papa love

i look at him and think,
gee, if all the father's out there were as awesome as my babies' daddy, the world would be a much happier place.

i only hope that we treat him like the king he is every day, not just once a year.
happy father's day. and year. and lifetime.
we heart you.

{and happy father's day to all our rockin' papa's out there. we heart you too.}

introducing...

after so much dreaming, scheming, talking, and more dreaming about starting a music blog, chris has finally given birth to a pretty little baby named all in the music.

he's proud that he finally found the time (thanks layoff!) and i'm proud that he now can write down all his music smarts and put it out into cyberspace rather than talking my ear off while i'm trying to read a magazine and listen, admittedly, only half hearted. i know, i suck.
but it's so much better for me to read what is going on inside his brain instead of him trying to get stubborn old me to understand why on earth the man that composed such and such album is a musical genius. i can be quite thick when it comes to those things.

so, now he has an outlet. and i have no doubt that there are lots of people out there that will truly appreciate all he has to say. yay!

congrats on the baby,
baby.

headed south

we are leaving for the magical landscapes of red rocks and sand. we haven't been back for a year and are eager to see old friends, familiar landmarks, and the jackrabbits at sunset. wish us luck that we don't entirely break the bank filling up our car with gas.....
have a fantastic weekend and a very happy mother's day!

it's my party....

we had a very late night after our birthday fiesta yesterday. it turned out wonderfully. the food was, well, yummy. and we had a lot of it. the friends, well, yummy. and a lot of them, too. i think one couldn't find a better combination in the world than good friends and good food. the best.

i have to say that it was a little hard seeing the pinata that i had lovingly pieced together the past few days get beat into bits, i developed a bit of an attachment to it. but, the kids had a blast. it was worth it to hear the squeals of delight. isn't it cute? she was our chubby, super chick.

so, thank you friends for helping to make my birthday such a very happy one.

bringing the smiles

today i'm loving:

muddy puppy prints on the floor. just another sign that spring is peeking around the corner.

the sunlight shining through the door, kissing my pants as i walk up the stairs.

hearing the little man singing loud and random, oblivious to anyone that may be listening, while working on building a robot with legos.

um, have i mentioned how much i love decadent chocolate cake? i am finding that 3 bites (per hour) is just the right amount. cures the sweet tooth, but doesn't leave a belly ache.

clean hair.

being stretched out in the backyard hammock and reading a most entertaining book.

the "i love you too, mama."

soleil being oh, so sassy.

calls from my brother. while they tend to be few and far between, and he almost always is calling because he needs something, i love them just the same.

that in a few hours we will be entering a long, work-free birthday weekend. the weather is promising temps in the 50's and we are sticking with that.

----------------------------------------------------------------
here's to happy, warm weekends.

pre-kidlet

the challenge: photographic evidence that your husband is more than a child prop. a picture that shows the hubby in all his handsome glory.
hmmm, the first picture that popped into my head was this:

i just love those luscious lips and the dreamy, faraway look in his eyes.
this was taken by a camera even more ghetto than our current one. yet, i am finding, it isn't the camera that makes the picture it's the picture itself.
the essence.

the essence of my husband is marvelous indeed.

friends

Nothing better than getting together with dear, old friends and chatting it up.

Forever friends Amy and Sindee came over tonight to catch up since it has been way too long.
It was exactly what I needed.
What struck me the most when talking was how different and diverse our individual lives are but the ups and downs, the roller coaster ride of life is the same.
I love the validation and acknowledgment of, yeah, I hear you. Just keep holding on.
I love that there is no judgement, only encouragement and support.
I love that I have friends that have seen me in so many places during the course of my life and no matter the situation, they have never turned their backs.

You both mean so much to me and I will always have a place in my heart with your name on it.

eight

It was eight years ago today that Chris and my paths crossed, and we decided to travel together for awhile.

I couldn't have chosen a better partner to make this journey with.

Thank you Chris, for holding my hand eight long years ago and never letting go.
