summer's end

"look it's my light.."

she's pointing to the sun setting between two peaks of the mountains, bidding it's farewell at the day's end. we are walking in the dusk, the cool night air is a welcome change to the stifling heat. pink sunbeams are dancing across her round cheeks and i stop as i let her words steep.

how does she know that?

and she is right, it is her sun.

--------------------------------------------------------------

i know it's been awhile and i've truly missed my little space here, but i suppose not enough to do anything about the nagging voice in the back of my head, write something already...
i feel i cannot catch a breath long enough to make the necessary space to write. not that recent life has been bad, just different. and busy. and different.

the beginning of my summer i was very out there, very social, always needing to plan a party. as the summer wore on i needed my life to be more peaceful, quiet. i am still in my summer hibernation realizing this space has allowed me to process all the changes. life and it's ups and downs is brilliant, no? it makes perfect sense to me.

chris started school. i almost did, xavier too, but then he wanted to be sure that i would call those school people and tell them that he is a homeschooler, dammit! so we both chickened out and good thing cause chris' school is more than enough. he likes it though, and i am so happy for that, and i must say that he is one smart cookie.

no job yet. i'm okay, or daresay happy, with that too. i'm slowly understanding that these things cannot be muscled and forced. if i believe, and more importantly trust, the right thing will come along at just the right time.
trust and believe, trust and believe.

i've radically changed my diet this past month and i have never felt better. i have always been a little sluggish, tired, overweight, and depressed for my entire adult existence and i decided i was tired (no pun intended) of teetering on the edge all the time. i really gave myself pause and listened to what my body was saying i should feed it. i decided to continue eating primarily vegan with no gluten and sugar. i also have been trying to eat many small meals throughout the day and have implemented fish oil and probiotics supplements. so to sum it up, lots of veggies.

lost nearly 10 pounds and am hoping to loose another 30. i have really been struggling with the weight i gained while pregnant with i feel like i have so much more energy. i feel lighter, glowier (my own word perhaps?) even. i've been discouraged that it didn't just fall off all on it's own like it did with xavier. it's so satisfying to make a leap of faith to change old habits, and then see that leap pay off in spades. and so quickly to.
i guess i'm the type of girl that likes instant gratification.
and i'm not afraid to say it.

unintended absence

I have been almost a week of being internet free (thanks to Xavi and a little "accident") and it's been sooo nice and rather productive. It's was amazing how much I could get done without the world wide web always hollerin' out to get on over here and look at something already. I mean, I'm sure you totally relate to the "quick search" for the address of the closest UPS store that turn into 97 minute Flick'r binge??
You don't??
Must just be me then.

Moving on....

So, I'm back. It's feels like it's been forever, and in a way it has. I've had some huge mental shifts that have so freeing and joyful and lovely (with all this internet free time I have to do something...) I have also found a new passion that brings me much giddiness, found another long lost passion that I have been sorely missing, played in the snow, made some delicious scones, been going crazy over yerba mate, bounced and skated like hooligans at our favorite roller rink, went on a super-fun early 5 year anniversary date, and tried a martini for the first time, but not the last time.

It's been a incredible week.
I will have to have more unintended absences more often.
There is really a lot of living to be had out there.

remember me?

I suppose I gave myself a nice, looong holiday break. I know you have all been impatiently waiting for my darling pictures of my kiddos unwrapping their gifts with glee, but quite frankly I'm a tad over it.

You see, all of my decorations, tree and all, where down at approximately 11:00 am on December 26th and not a speck of tinsel or wrapping could be found.
You know, like the Grinch.
I really love the holidays. The magic and excitement are, well, magical and exciting-but it can also be much too overwhelming for yours truly. So, I dare say I breathed a huge sigh of relief when the clock hit midnight on Christmas. Yippee! No more craft marathons till 2 in the morning!
Oh, but please take heart: I really, truly looove making crafts. I just won't be doing any for a month's time. To recuperate.

So what exactly have I been doing with these nice big chunks of craft-free time?

Well, glad you asked.

I have been laughing my behind off here: List of the Day. Seriously, I wet my unmentionables I was laughing so hard. (Let's keep that between us, shall we?) Don't blame me if you don't think it's funny. It just means you don't have my peculiar sense o' humor.

I have been literally sucked into this blog here. The Pioneer Woman just tickles my funny bone. She is highly amusing and her pictures are stunning. If you get 12.3 hours to read her story
Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, I highly recommend you do just that. Seriously it will take you 12.3 hours to read it in it's entirety, so just forget about the mounting dish pile and dirty laundry heap. That's what I did and I ain't sorry.

I also have been reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I was not so impressed the first 50 pages or so, but I am slowly starting to warm up to the story. Why don't you read it so we can chat about it later, huh?

Craigslist has also become a major part of my life at the moment as we are desperately seeking a new abode. Gee, you would think instead of busying myself up with goofy websites and sappy love stories I would, like, you know, pack some boxes.

Well, that's a good idea and all, but it's just not real,um, fun.

So, I'll just stay in my bubble of denial that we should be moving in a week and keep on laughing till I pee.

don't bother me, i'm just reading

I've been slacking with the posting lately. But I'm giving myself a break...you should too.
If it is of any consolation, I have kept up my blog in my head. Full of fascinating and hilarious posts.
I should invent that...a way to imagine what your blog will say in your head and VOILA, it appears into the computer.
I'd be rich I tell ya.

So I have been busy reading...a lot.
Damn you Harry Potter!
Damn you Stephenie Meyer!
Oh, but the reading has been sooo delicious. I just can't help myself. Just like eating an entire chocolate cake because it's so scrumptious you can't stop, but feel quite sick and guilty when it is over. Yet wishing you still had more....
Not that this is an actual real life example, I mean I would NEVER eat a chocolate cake in one sitting.
More like two. :)

I'll give more juicy details of our week later. I suspect the three of you out there are just desperate with anticipation.

Better Late Than Never

Well, at the pestering of some of my blog readers (gee, so demanding) I decided to update the blog with a little bit of the going on's around here. Sorry for the time lapse between posts. When I started this blog I told myself that I would do it only when I had time for it and that it had to be fun, not a chore. Lately it's been a chore. Too much summer excitement to soak up in a day (as you will see below.) Hope you too are livin' it up in the summer sun.Nothing better that eating fruit fresh from the Farmer's Market
Cherry face!! Xavi has a bad habit of parking it under a table and gorging himself on the boxes of cherries while Chris and I are paying. He has the evidence all over that pretty little face of his.

Swimming at Grandma's

Bubble blowing excitement at the Summer Solstice party at Julie's house. To look at more pics see Julie or Teri's blog.

At the Natural History Museum

We visited our friends The Harvey's at their new home site in Brighton. So beautiful and peaceful. Xavier and Eden had fun dressing up. Here is "Brave Firefighter Xavi" as he likes to call himself.

At the drive-in. Cup O' Popcorn in hand. Popcorn is definitely a favorite food for Soleil. We saw "Ratatouille." Very cute.

Xavier has been amazing me with his artwork. He will be outside on the patio drawing for over an hour and when I come out the whole patio will be filled with drawing such as this. He said this drawing was one with he and I in it. To me it looks like I (the bigger one) is tickling him on the arm. Tickle, Tickle. :)

Hopping.

Swimming at Teri's for the 4th of July.
